Drone Mapping Products
Below are the typical products you'll receive from FDMS.
Aerial Mapping
Aerial mapping products are one large image, created from stitching together hundreds of individual images. While drones cannot cover extensively large areas that planes or satellites can, the resolution of the imagery is typically better. Commercial imagery is typically 12-inch or 15-inch resolution. Drone imagery can acquire a range of 1-inch to 6-inch resolution depending on flight height and speed.
Aerial mapping customers will receive a TIFF file and a PNG file. The PNG file will be resized to 150mb, which is the file size limit on most printing sites (Shutterfly, CVS, Walgreens, etc.).
A draft of the image will be emailed so customers can review and approve the image before submitting payment. Once the image is approved and payment is received by FDMS, customers will receive an email link to download their digital images. Downloads will be available for 90 days.
Timber Harvest Imagery
Customers can choose an aerial image or general drone footage, or both. Similar to the aerial mapping product, customers will receive a draft of their aerial image and general images to review before submitting payment. An RGB-based VARI (Vegetation Area Ratio Index) mapping image, which is used to measure plant health, can be included as an additional product. Downloads will be available for 90 days.
Drone Footage
General drone footage includes images and, in some cases, video. Drafts of some images will be provided to the customer to review and approve. After payment is received by FDMS, customers will receive a download link for their images and videos. Downloads will be available for 90 days.
